Tenmoku Leaf Vase

Handcrafted in Malaysia by a prominent Chinese artist, our beautiful ceramic Tenmoku Leaf Vase is a unique example of his well known Tenmoku Pottery collection. The pattern on each Tenmoku Leaf Vase is created by hand pressing nature’s leaves and twigs to the surface of the vase prior to firing. The leaves turn to ash, the pattern emerges, and solid a black “Tenmoku” glaze is hand applied inside the vase making it water tight. The Japanese word “Tenmoku” translates as the “Eyes of Heaven. This collection was established in 1989 based on tea bowls used by monks in 13th century Japan.
